A weekend workshop with Eleanor Sutherland exploring our indigenous herbal traditions and relating these to the present day in the light of recent legislation on the supply of herbal medicines.
We will look at past history and present applications and create preparations.
It is aimed that these days will enable participants to gain confidence in growing and using herbs in the home.
Eleanor Sutherland has a lifetime of experience with herbs and is a qualified Homeopath.
We will be covering:
Traditions of Irish herbalism
Safety with herbs,
Plant ID,
Infusions and Decoctions
Making salves and creams and liniments,
Relevant herb profiles
Connecting with the Plant World,
Kitchen cupboard medicine.
De-toxification herbs, Growing herbs
Juicing, poulticing, hand and foot baths..
Syrups, Honeys, Tinctures,
Immune strengthening herbs,
Gathering and harvesting herbs
Herb walks beside the Liffey
Participants will practice making their own preparations to take home.
Recipes and handouts will be provided.
Plant Medicine Days will continue in September 2013 with a series of in depth study days for people who have attended Inroductory Courses in Huntingbrook Gardens, Tinode, Co Wicklow and other venues locally.
